This is a powerful book about trying to live a life in Christ, redemption and the price that Christ paid on the cross.  Here is a wonderful interview with the author that I would love for you to check out.

I just finished this book by Charles Martin.  He is a fantastic author and I have fallen in love with the depth of his characters.

"Wrapped in Rain" by Charles Martin

I discovered "Wrapped in Rain" at the book store when I was looking for a great story with a Christian perspective.  Once I started, I could not put the book down.  The writing style is honest and transparent about the real pain of abuse and the ripple effects it causes in the lives of everyone around the situation.  I was moved by the theology of Mama Ella and how beautifully it was depicted in this powerful work.  This is a wonderful redemptive piece with all the hope and truth of the resurrection lived out in the lives of the characters.  What a wonderful read!

I just finished a novel by Anne Rice

I added Anne Rice: Christ the Lord: Out of Egypt: A Novel to my favorite book list on the right hand side of my blog.  It is a novel about what the childhood of Jesus might have been life.  I found it to be a gentle and faith filled book about Mary, Joseph, Jesus and their extended family.  Unfortunately, scholars do not really know much about this period in the life of Christ and to be honest they do not know all that much about his day to day life as he got older, either.  Therefore, the book is fiction and as such I absolutely loved it.  It helped me to better imagine what life at that time was like and even helped me to better understand the ritualized worship of the Jewish faith.  If you are looking for a gentle and faithful novel, I would suggest this book.
